About Me

My name is Qian Jin (Chinese: 靳茜, pronunciation: jin chyan), friends also call me Shirley. I’m an Assistant Professor in Social Entrepreneurship in School of Ecnomics at Utrecht University. I earned my PhD in social entrepreneurship in Department of Applied Social Sciences at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining Utrecht University, I was a Postdoc in Department of Public and International Affairs at City University of Hong Kong.

My research interests lie in several fields and often at the intersections of these areas: 1) I study social entrepreneurship, examining its process and outcomes including legitimacy building, resource acquisition and certification; 2) I investigate how emerging technologies such as AI, NFT, Metaverse and blockchain enable entrepreneurship; 3) I employ computational and experimental approaches to probe into various organizaitonal phenomena. These approaches include but are not limited to natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, field experiment and online experiment.

My research has been published in FT-50 journal such as Journal of Business Ethics and has been presented in Academy of Management Annual Meetings since 2021, International Social Innovation Research Conferences (ISIRC) and International Society of Third Sector Research (ISTR) and International Council for Small Business (ICSB).
